So when I saw the new Jimmy Choo Zulu Sequined Leather Clutch, I was simply mesmerized. This clutch looks absolutely gorgeous in the modeling picture. And it looks especially lovely paired with that simple black dress!
I think what I like so much about this clutch is the very interesting use of sequins that was employed. From a distance, the little blocks of color almost look like stones adorning the exterior of the bag. But each of these “stones” is actually a zillion little sequins meticulously sewn into place. Puffy quilting of the leather exterior is what gives these “stones” their three-dimensional appearance.

With all of the weird and wacky designs that I have seen by Marc Jacobs over the years, it is not surprising that I have become somewhat desensitized. Whether it’s the quirky Miss Marc or splashes of neon colors, Marc Jacobs has never been afraid of thinking outside the box. I really admire him for his creativity and boldness. But this appreciation that I have for the Marc by Marc Jacobs line never really prepared me for what I stumbled upon the other day. Can you believe it? A very, very normal-looking handbag has made its way into Marc Jacobs’ diffusion line.

Introducing the Marc cheap wholesale fashion handbags by Marc Jacobs Hexi Lafayette Hobo! This lovely bag features a classic hobo shape and signature turnlock closure. I really love the washed leather, which appears to have been polished to give it a gentle sheen. The shape of the bag has been accented beautifully with asymmetrical seams.
Oddly enough, it is this feature that reminds me of Kooba. Hmm… a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag that sort of looks like a Kooba? Sweet! I stumbled across the most beautiful bag today. It is such a lovely piece, I just had to share it with all of you. And here it is! Introducing the Sara Berman Decca Midi Studded Slouch Bag! Yes, yes… I know. When the heck did Sara Berman add handbags to her collection? Well, it turns out her handbags made their debut for the Spring/Summer 2010 Collection wholesale handbags online. So this was a very recent development! And boy, what a development it was!

I am simply in love with this bag! I like the puffy hobo shape and how the shoulder strap is one continuous piece with the body of the bag. It is sort of like a sling style, but without that deflated look. Plus the pleats at each side add some extra softness to the look. This softness was then paired with some hard-edged details — distressed leather and studs. And when I say studs, I really mean studs! An array of gold tone studs both large and small, polished and brushed, flat and domed to be exact! These studs can be found adorning the edges of the shoulder strap and the bottom of the bag. But wait… isn’t a stud encrusted bottom a little Alexander Wang-ish? Perhaps. But I think in this case, the studs are different enough that there won’t be too many cases of mistaken identity. With the Fall season coming, I’m looking for a new color palette. Rich plums, deep blues, subtle grays, and even forest green. This apple-ish green shade is a real surprise, but somehow it works! The fabulous house of Prada never fails to come up with something a little bit different and interesting.

The Prada Vitello Shine Satchel follows the current trend of satchel styles with lots of “pop”. Smaller in size than the working satchel, it’s 10″ x 9″ x 7″ size is simply perfect for day to day useage. The square-ish shape is softened with rounded corners and is a great silhouette that mixes the styling of lady-like doctor’s bags with a bit of edge. Two outside pockets provide design interest and functionality. A long adjustable strap with 14″ to 18″ drop provides a comfortable hands-free option to the lustrous, rolled double-handles.

This bag features a gold-tone hardware which surprises me that it works so well with the green, but I think it’s the better choice over silver in this instance. The leather is subtly distressed for further styling interest. The roomy interior features signature jacquard lining and zippered pocket. Metal feet protect the bottom of this fun little bag.

What I love about this shade is how easily it translates with denim, navy, black, charcoal and other great fall shades this season. Pair it with a great plum sweater and it really shines!

Bag Trend: the vibrant designer logo

When I ran into Moschino’s white canvas signature bag, the first thought that came through my mind was that I’ve seen colorful signature handbags before. I don’t know who can claim to be the originator of the vibrant logo idea, but obviously, the trend keeps on going. So these two pieces by two different Houses are not absolutely identical, but you can’t miss the close resemblance they share; they’re like cousins!

But the question here isn’t who copied who, but more like, which colorful signature print handbag would make your pick? They both share a hobo-ish style with a single strap and a “handy” body strap to convert into an even more comfortable style. Canvas and leather seems to be found in the identical places on both, even the retail price tags seem to be closely related, that’s $278 for Coach and $295 for Moschino (Moschino bag now reduced 20% to $236).

Don’t get fooled by fall accessories just yet, the way the national temperatures have been on the hotter side of the range, you still have a couple more weeks to sport around a funky cool handbag that’s still on summer mode.

Lockheart Shelby Satchel

It seems to me that Lockheart has created a bit of a sore spot here at Bag Bliss. First, Deysa wrote about the over-the-top braiding on the Lockheart Cadence. And now, I am bringing everyone’s attention to the Lockheart Shelby Satchel.

Now I’m not saying that I hate this bag. In fact, there are quite a few things that I have found myself admiring about it. I just love the domed satchel shape. It is unmistakably classic, yet unique at the same time. The front flap pockets are so cute, as are the double handles with their buckle detail. The main compartment opens up super wide, making it easy to look inside and examine contents. And did I mention that this bag is made of lambskin leather? Mmmm, yummy! And then… there’s the pleats. Normally, I am crazy for pleats. I think they look absolutely gorgeous on handbags, softening silhouettes and giving interest to otherwise plain designs. So what’s the problem with the pleats on this particular style? Not to sound too harsh, but they sort of remind me of the lining of a coffin. Perhaps it is because they were created so neatly and precisely. I guess when I think of pleats, I don’t think of formal patterns and hard edges. However, I think it is great that Lockheart is trying to think outside of the box. The use of pleats here is actually quite creative and I have to give them credit for that. This bag would be perfect for someone who really likes bold patterns and it would make a great alternative to a geometric print.

3.1 Phillip Lim Berry Stud Wristlet

3.1 Phillip Lim has come up with some interesting looking bags lately. My favorite being, of course, the Edie Bow Bag (okay, not a brand new style, but still pretty darn cool!). But here’s something that I don’t normally think of when I think of this line — a wristlet! Introducing the 3.1 Phillip Lim Studded Berry Wristlet! It’s a tiny package that packs quite a punch!

Oddly, if it wasn’t for the all-over studs having a distinctive cone shape, I would have sworn that this wristlet was one of Alexander Wang’s creations. After all, he really likes to crowd the surface of a bag with lots and lots of chunky studs! But you know what, I think Lim does the whole stud thing pretty well. They are the same kind of studs found on my beloved Edie Bow Bag, but they are arranged in a tight grid pattern.

All of this on a slightly metallic, silver suede background! Pretty! And if you’re not in the mood for a funky wristlet, you can remove the strap and use this baby as a compact wallet. Duel zip-around compartments conceal credit card slots, bill compartments, and a coin pocket. Everything you would find in a regular wallet (minus, perhaps, a checkbook cover) can be found right here! Perfect for a minimalist’s night out or a fun surprise inside your everyday handbag!

Treesje handbags have been on my mind a lot lately. I’m talking borderline obsession! But who can blame me? After all, these feelings are perfectly normal. Treesje handbags are so pretty and unique, what isn’t there to love about them? So when I happen to stumble across a good deal on a Tressje handbag, it’s no wonder that I’m practically screaming it from the rooftops! And that is exactly what’s going on this very moment.

You ladies have got to check out this awesome deal on the Treesje Harlow Clutch! This lovely leather clutch features delicate gathering on both the front and back. The leather appears as though it was pinched, forming a pretty fan-like pattern. And the chain border around the outer edges creates a lovely accent alongside the gatherings.

When it comes to the Treesje Harlow Clutch, I think Laura and Sheila did an excellent job of balancing tough girl-chic with simple elegance. This clutch would be perfect for a casual night out, but it could easily be dressed up by pairing it with a simple black dress. My only regret is that this extra-large clutch doesn’t come complete with a chain strap. Oh well, I guess you can simply think of it as a short magazine clutch!

Introducing Muratori Handbags

I don’t know about you, but I always get super excited whenever a new handbag designer hits the scene. I just love creative new ideas. And, being the environmentalist that I am, I especially love creative new ideas that come about in an eco-friendly manner. That is why I am so proud to present to you Muratori Designs (Luxury… with the World in Mind)! The company was founded by Julie Berard, who was able to align her love of fashion with her respect for nature in order to bring us a unique collection of luxury handbags. So not only are these handbags gorgeous, but they are made by a company that is environmentally conscious as well!

I do want to stress, however, that Muratori handbags are not vegan (like so many other eco-friendly handbags are). Instead, the company utilizes vegetable-tanned, chrome-free leathers. The production process for these leathers is much less harmful to the environment than other leathers. In addition, the linings of these handbags are made of either organic cotton or hemp. But it is also the little things that this company does to lessen their carbon footprint that I think are really cool. Whether it’s using only high efficiency light bulbs or purchasing electricity from renewable green energy sources, they are doing everything they can to help protect the environment. And, as if all of that wasn’t enough, Muratori also has a handbag recycling program!

So I am really encouraging everyone out there to check out these new Muratori handbags. And with Earth Day just around the corner, these beautiful bags are that much more tempting. French Connection Solar Clutch

The fun thing about a clutch is that you can carry one as loud as your style desires, without looking like a total mess. Compared to a loud day bag, that could take the appearance of beach wear or might come off as too juvenile. Botkier Brooklyn Hobo

Monica Botkier is such a great designer, I always enjoy seeing new styles from her line. But when I stumbled across the Botkier Brooklyn Hobo, I found myself experiencing something I have never experienced before in terms of Botkier handbags.

Yep, it was an old-fashioned case of deja vu. And to make matters worse, I had absolutely so clue why. So I studied the Botkier Brooklyn Hobo closely, hoping that it would eventually come to me.

This beautiful bag features long tassels, something that it often associated with the Botkier name. And the lacing detail via metal grommets creates an interesting horizontal pleating effect. Wait… that’s it! That is what I have seen (and also written about) before! There is another handbag out there where grommets and lacing were used to create horizontal pleats.

But who was the designer? Ah yes, it was the Michael Kors Zuma Satchel, a bag I wrote about back in August. The tassels may not be there, but the concept certainly is the same. The two bags even have rectangular metal fobs hanging from the strap. Perhaps this is all a coincidence, but you have to admit the similarities are rather eerie. Just for the record though, I think Botkier did it better. I’m such a sucker for tassels!

Valentino Sequin Rose Clutch

Gorgeous Olivia Palermo spotted around this past week with her stunning sequin rose Valentino clutch. The first sighting was last week on the 8th (pictured on the left), where Olivia was at the Mango Fashion and Music Night in Munich. For the event she matched her Valentino clutch with a blue pleated dress from the Spanish label, and a pair of lace-up Jimmy Choos. Then a couple days later (pictured on the right), she was spotted at the N.Y.C. “Make Up For Ever” Sephora launch in a champagne origami skirt, black feathery top, grey beaded jacket; and accessorized with a studded belt, Charlotte Olympia booties, and the gorgeous embellished rose Valentino flat clutch.

This season Valentino tamed down their iconic rose design by trading in volume for texture, intensifying the signature rose design with radiant sequins. It’s gorgeous.

Locating the Valentino Glam sequin is a bit tricky. I just searched all the online department stores and boutiques that carry Valentino with no luck. So chances are it’s sold out, or soon to be back in stock. Bookmark Saks Valentino Boutique and the NetaPorter Valentino Store and check back. Lockheart Pinwheel Wallet

I have never been very enthusiastic when it comes to Lockheart handbags. I’m not sure why exactly, they just haven’t been on my radar. But I know there are a lot of Lockheart fans out there and sometimes I feel like I am missing something. So when I stumbled across the Lockheart Pinwheel Continental Wallet, I decided to give this lesser-known designer a second look. And in case you haven’t guessed, I liked what I saw! Not only does this piece have an unusual design, it comes in some pretty colors as well!

Referred to as a “pinwheel”, the design on the front reminds me more of a fanned out stack of poker chips. Funny, considering I’m not much of a poker player! Nonetheless, I find the pattern to be quite cute and charming. It adds just the right amount of interest to this otherwise casual piece. What I like most about this little wristlet/wallet, however, is the kiss lock central compartment. It is large enough to hold some small items, allowing this wristlet/wallet to truly function as a wristlet and not simply a wallet on a string. But don’t worry, this piece is still wallet worthy with all those credit card slots. Plus, the wrist strap is removable!

When I think Christian Louboutin, I think of amazing footwear that is way out of my student budget limits. With the success of such a powerful fashion statement as the red-soled Louboutin, it encouraged a distribution of designs into a line of handbags.

My first thoughts about Louboutin handbags was that they were small and admirable, but they didn’t necessarily fit the lifestyle of your typical bag lady who carries more than a handful of daily items. Without any aid from its description I would have never guessed that this piece is in fact by Tory Burch. From a distance, it looked more like the creations of a striving designer or like any ordinary pretty piece that sits pretty at a trendy, non-designer store.

If you have followed in the past, you know that the Crescent straw handbag isn’t your typical Burch classic. But as we can see from the attempt at it, I would say she absolutely nailed it! The first thing that pops right out is the majestic design of black grooved tones that contrasts beautifully against the tan interwoven straw silhouette. Other cool features include black leather handles and the excellent choice of gold toned hardware to fit the vibe. Right at the center is the recognizable Tory Burch medallion, in a discrete size that suits the overall look of this tote bag.

Well here’s a familiar face! Or should I say, familiar handbag? The Fendi Peekaboo Tote has been around for quite some time now. But it never seems to get old, does it? I wouldn’t be surprised if the Fendi Peekaboo Tote becomes an iconic piece some day (if it hasn’t already happened, that is). What I like most about this bag is the fact that it comes in a variety of sizes and colors. But this latest version of the largest size is… WOW! Introducing the Fendi Large Python Peekaboo Tote.

This gorgeous piece features a bluish gray, goatskin body that fades into a darker gray in the center. So where’s the python? That’s the peek-a-boo part! Inside you’ll find a genuine python dividing panel, which is complemented with a brown suede lining. The result is a bag that is beautiful beyond words! This isn’t to say, however, that this bag is not functional as well. After all, it does feature two large compartments (one of each side) that are capable of holding all your daily essentials and much more!

This beauty is definitely what I would call an investment piece. But I think that is okay considering how classic-looking this bag is. This is something that will always look fresh, season after season.

New: Valentino Histoire Patent Satchel

I’ve always been a fan of Valentino’s extra structured and braided Histoire Satchel, so when I heard the news that there’s a new Histoire in town, I definitely had to track it down. I can spot the resemblance from its older satchel sibling, but the end result is most definitely a very different product from the original. If the oversized taller classic wasn’t suitable enough for you, then check out its more compact look.

In the new Histoire I like all of its features, but being such a huge fan of the Classic Histoire, I feel like this newbie is lacking. Comparing this to the Classic, the braided handles look flimsy, the over flap isn’t quite as attractive, and I’m thinking small decorative pockets would have added more character to this version.

I also feel like a splash of color would have made this piece more attractive (just check out the luscious: Valentino Pearlized Blue Historie) but perhaps this is the first of the many new Histoire’s that are coming our way. At the moment, this patent satchel arrives in an extra light pink hue (yes, it’s patent light pink), and unfortunately carries a steep price tag of $1,895, which doesn’t make sense at all since the classic and much larger Histoire carried that same price tag.

Kylie Minogue has enjoyed a great deal of popularity over the last few decades, especially in the UK. In fact, the Australian native is the only female artist, aside from Madonna, in British chart history to have achieved number one singles in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Minogue has often been described as a “style icon who constantly reinvents herself”. And after taking one look at her gorgeous Yves Saint Laurent Easy Bag in Silver, I would definitely have to say I agree with the “style icon” portion of that statement. Botkier Hugh Satchel

Wow, Botkier certainly has been pumping out a lot of new bags for this upcoming Fall season! I guess Monica has been working overtime this year! But that’s okay because I really enjoy seeing all the new designs, especially from a designer like Botkier. The company has come a long way since its beginning in 2003 and it has been so much fun watching it grow and evolve. So which Botkier handbag did I stumble upon while browsing the net this time? This lovely Hugh Satchel that you see pictured here, of course!

The Botkier Hugh Satchel is such an interesting-looking piece. This bag sort of reminds me of a frog’s face. Hehe! But I mean that in a good way! I actually like little froggies (almost as much as I love turtles!). The soft Italian lambskin leather has a very subtle quilting texture that you don’t really notice upon first glance. The satchel is actually rectangular, but the top corners fold down and are hooked together to create the trapezoid (frog’s face) shape. This is such a luxurious style! It looks so smooshy and broken in, like it is something you have carried for years. It would definitely make a great everyday style that you can always turn to when you’re in the mood for something super soft!

Rebecca Minkoff has been expanding her horizons lately. Lots of new styles and lots of new colors! But a bag that has caught my attention lately is one that has been out for a little while now (it is still fairly new though). It’s the Rebecca Minkoff Kiss Evening Bag! This cute bag is small, but it is a bit larger than the older Fling Clutch. I know some people like dainty little evening bags, but I have to be able to fit more than some keys and a credit card in there! So this little beauty would make a great alternative!

The Rebecca Minkoff Kiss Evening Bag is unique in its vintage-ish shape, complete with framed top and kiss lock closure. I love the long, leather-infused chain strap. And the quilting, although not unique to this style, is just darling. Plus I can’t get over how the stud accents are actually Phillips-head screws! Those are certainly unexpected and they give this bag just the right amount of edge. Take in to consideration the detachable tassel and you have yourself the perfect bag for a night out on the town! Complete the look by pairing it with a dress that is anything but girlie-girl and some killer heels! Wow! Those boys had better look out!

Tory Burch Louisa Convertible Messenger Bag

I have had an on & off relationship with Tory Burch designs as I’m simply not a big fan of logos for the featured design element in shoes, handbags etc….even though I have to admit that hers is a very attractive logo. With the new Louisa Messenger, I am certainly back “on” again!

Described as “24-hour chic”, this bag can be worn daytime as a messenger or evenings as a clutch simply by removing the handle. A trend we are seeing more and more of as consumers demand more options for their dollars. It’s a trend that I really like too!

Although I’m excited this bag can be carried as a clutch, I have to say my favorite element is the handle itself! Little gold squares woven with tan leather create a very sophisticated edge that contrasts nicely to all of the stud-work we have been seeing lately. The fold-over top can also be worn upright simply by moving the handle and tassle to the top of the bag. Thereby eliminating my biggest complaint of foldover-bags which is wasted space! It’s a nifty little trick that doesn’t lose much in the design department when worn that way.

Inside, the design doesn’t stop. Two internal pouches and one zipped pocket with a detachable vanity mirror provide the storage spaces and items you need. (I love it when designers include extra little touches like mirrors with their bags!) A cream colored canvas finishes the bag.

For $395, it’s hard to beat this fabulous bag!

I’m obsessed with Michael Kors. His purses are reasonably priced and sometimes they are as drop dead gorgeous as any other designer out there. When I laid my eyes on the MICHAEL Michael Kors “Jewel” Clutch I was instantly in love. Not only was it an affordable price but it was way different than anything Mr. Kors has ever done before. It’s not your typical Michael Kors bag and I think that’s why I love it so much.

I’m not sure if I would classify this purse as an evening clutch or a fancy handbag. It’s not too over the top that it can be only used at night and it’s not casual either. I would say this is the type of handbag you can carry around whenever you want. I suppose that gives it an edge over other bags. It’s great for the daytime and it’s dressy enough for night.

My favorite feature about this bag is definitely the jewel in front of the bag. That’s what really caught my eye about this clutch. It really sticks out at you, and even though there isn’t much to this bag that jewel makes an impression.

Such a great bag and I give Michael Kors an A+ for this one!

Rebecca Minkoff Alligator Lover’s Clutch

The Rebecca Minkoff Lover’s Clutch is back by popular demand! As you may recall, I wrote about this clutch back in September of last year (check it out here: Rebecca Minkoff Lover’s Clutch). It was a highly sought-after style back then and it is still a highly sought-after style today! What’s different is that the Rebecca Minkoff Lover’s Clutch is now available in an alligator embossed leather. But wait just a minute! I hate to break it to you Rebecca, but that’s no alligator! As a biologist, I will tell you that your alligator embossed leather looks more like snake embossed leather. Just take a look at the belly “scales” running down the middle of the clutch. Oh well, I suppose I will forgive you this time. After all, this is one gorgeous clutch regardless of what the embossing is supposed to be!

I love the shape of this clutch and how it has sort of a retro feel to it. The light grey leather looks stunning next to the contrasting wooden frame handle. I’m also liking the silver hardware. Previous versions had gold hardware, but I think the silver looks so chic. This clutch would be perfect for a night out and it is roomy enough to hold all of your basic essentials. But I have just one more suggestion for Rebecca. Do you think maybe this clutch could have an optional chain strap? It would make this clutch so much more versatile!

Laudi Vidni Handbags: Thinking Outside the Label (Part 2: Product Review!)

Does anyone recall a little company called Laudi Vidni? If you are a regular Bag Bliss reader, then you probably remember a review I did about the company’s website and ordering process (if you don’t remember, you can check it out here!). And I bet you all have been wondering what the heck happened with that! Haha! Well, let me tell you, it has been quite an adventure! Not long after writing my review, I decided to order the Pavan Satchel in the Storm premium leather. So what exactly happened with that? Long story short, I hated the bag once I got it! Remember the ruching at the top of the bag that I “absolutely adored”? It turned out that the leather was actually threaded onto a stiff metal rod (think curtain rod) in order to achieve the look. Needless to say, the bag was very awkward against the side of my body. So what did I do? I returned it, of course! Lucky for me, the ladies there at Laudi Vidni were very understanding. Now just throw in a trip abroad and an extremely hectic Spring semester at school and.. ta-da! An explanation for the huge time lapse! But, hey, better late than never! Right?

So after much consideration, I finally settled on the Brio Clutch to replace my Pavan Satchel! It is chic, simple, and sophisticated. Plus the square turnlock clasp looks so cool in the picture. For the body of the clutch, I chose the Silver Croc premium leather. As for the contrasting stripe, I went with the Metallic Patent Indigo. And the panel on the turnlock? I thought the Smooth Grain Canal added a nice little touch! Once I had made my selections, I eagerly placed my order and waited for my new Brio Clutch to arrive on my doorstep!

And… here… it… is!

My Laudi Vidni Brio Clutch arrived at my house via UPS. It came in a nice box, along with a thank you card. The clutch was presented nicely inside a tulle bag (I think a cotton dust cover would have been nicer) and the box was filled with a decorative stuffing. The total turnaround time was a little longer than I expected (about six weeks). But once I saw my new little beauty, I knew it had been worth the wait!

Now, let’s talk quality! First of all, the leather is absolutely gorgeous! I was a little bit worried about selecting the Silver Croc premium leather. After all, I have seen some BAD crocodile-embossed leathers in my day. But not Laudi Vidni’s leather! Oh my gosh, this stuff is so soft and supple! Now I’m not saying that you would be able to fool people into thinking this was real crocodile. But it does look (and feel) nice! As for the Metallic Patent Indigo, the color is actually quite pretty. It doesn’t look as vibrant as it does in the website’s rendition, but it is still pretty nonetheless. I am also pleased with the square turnlock closure. It feels sturdy when you turn it, so I’m not too worried about it wearing out any time soon. For the most part, I am pretty happy with my new Brio Clutch. My only complaint is that it did not come with an optional chain or shoestring strap. The clutch does start to feel heavy after carrying it for awhile, so having an optional strap really would have been nice.

Ali Larter was sporting her baby bump while heading out the lunch in Beverly Hills the other day. The former Heroes star is expecting her first child with husband Hayes MacArthur. It was a little bit difficult to tell at first, but I have definitely made a positive ID. It’s the Alexander Wang Brenda Crossbody Bag! This is such a cute bag! It is perfect for when you don’t want to carry a big bag around. I love the little pockets on the front and the extra long, snake chain strap. Plus I love the color! Ali’s bag is this beautiful washed silver color that looks great paired with her shoes, yet it isn’t too matchy-matchy.

Fendi Good Luck Clover Fortune ‘Roll’ Tote

A good friend of mine swears every time she takes her Speedy out with her, she runs into fabulous deals and sales. I’m not sure if I necessarily deem a handbag can bring you good fortune, but apparently the House of Fendi believes so. Have any of you gals own a piece you consider to be lucky or somehow magical? If you don’t and you’d like to contemplate searching for a luck full addition to your collection, the ‘Roll’ Canvas tote might be a great piece to discover. For once the repetitive “F” logos aren’t what stands out the most, instead, it’s the silkscreen print of a giant four-leafed clover reading Fendi Fortune.

I honestly do like the amusing idea of colorful sketches embedded onto the body of a classic handbag, such as what we have here, but I’m not too fond of this particular design. From a distance, it looks like an old fashioned playing card; perhaps if Fendi would have ditched the white box subjecting the clover, it would have looked neater. Black patent leather and green threading finish off this theme, and this totes small silhouette might be size appropriate for those who want to try this trendy piece, gradually.

Celebs love the slashed biker jean trend! You know what I’m talking about, those super skinny jeans that are slashed from there to you know where! I suppose they are okay though. Well… at least for celebs anyway. I mean, they aren’t exactly the easiest (not to mention practical) thing to wear. And you definitely have to have the right body type.

So what does this little ramble have to do with handbags? Nothing really! But for some reason, it was those jeans that popped into my head when I saw the ROMYGOLD Biker Slash Tote. Hmm… I wonder why! This distressed leather tote features 5 inch “slashes” running across both the front and back sides. Peeking through the holes is the bag’s same-color cotton lining.

Well, the concept is interesting at least. But something is bothering me about the design. Wouldn’t a little color peeking out be more fun? For the black version, a hot pink lining would be the perfect touch! Or metallic silver! As for the white version, I was thinking maybe a blue lining. Doesn’t that sound pretty? But I guess peekaboo color wasn’t what was on the designer’s mind. As it is, I think the bag would look good with a biker-chic outfit. However, I wouldn’t recommend mixing it with slashed biker jeans. Talk about slash overload!

Katie Cassidy was shooting a new episode for Season 4 of Gossip Girl with co-star Chace Crawford at Columbia University last Wednesday. The CC Skye Turner Hobo is the perfect everyday bag. I love the classic hobo shape and the gentle pleating detail. The leather is super soft, but lightweight as well. The gold tone hardware and studs are understated, drawing the eye in and holding your interest without taking away from the overall look of the bag. It isn’t classic, but it isn’t trendy either. What a great way to update your look! Katie did a great job picking this beauty out! Or was that the handy work of the Gossip Girl wardrobe staff?

Once again we show off another amazing find by Judith Leiber. This time around she presents to us an exotic that has been seen from time to time in the world of handbags, and we’re not just talking animal print here, instead, it’s an entire miniature model of a zebra. The drawstring pouch may be one of the latest trends in handbags, but that doesn’t mean the pouch has to be this teeny tiny little thing. I have actually seen quite a few larger sized drawstring bags sprinkled into the mix this season. But nothing grabbed my attention more than the Cleobella Nevaeh Drawstring Bag! Not only is this bag large enough to hold more than a cell phone and a set of keys, it is beautiful as well! And it looks like others agree, with Cleobella’s ever growing list of celebrity followers! And I hear Fergie loves this particular style!

What do I like most about this bag? I really like the cute gold and silver button studs! But they aren’t just arranged in neat little rows like those on most other stud-encrusted bags. Instead, they are arranged in this pretty starburst pattern that flows across the surface of the bag! The designer, Angela O’Brien, draws her inspiration from her world travels and it definitely shows! I love the slightly exotic feeling you get from this bag. The shape, the starburst pattern, the tassel… it all contributes to the feeling. This bag would add just the right amount of flavor to a casual wardrobe!

Quilting and studs, logo plates, top-stitched logos are all familiar to us as Marc by Marc Jacobs. Birds are kinda new.

The Natasha leather bag and pouchette of the same style family feature playful, bird-shaped brass plates on the front of the bag with strap detailing. It’s a touch of sophisticated whimsy for those so inclined. I do admire the clean styling of the birds, but am still a little unsure. I think these bags would be perfect for a girl with a little attitude to keep the style from becoming too cute. Personally, I think the best name for these bags should have been Polly!

The Natasha Bag features roomy interior, side zip pockets, internal zip pocket and pouch pockets. Designed to carry alot of essentials and then some, it will meet your needs throughout the day. 12″ x 11″ x 3″ sizing with a 19″ handle drop. This bag might not work as a cross-body on everyone. The price is a reasonable $430.

The Pouchette Cross-Body is 8″ x 6″ x 2″ with a 24″ strap. It will fit beautifully as a cross-body on most! A great little bag for $230.

Here is a handbag designer that has sort of flown under the radar… well, at least my radar. Not that I haven’t heard of Bally before, I just haven’t paid much attention to their handbags (shoes, on the other hand, are another story). As far as the brand loui vuittonSee by Chloe goes, I wouldn’t call myself a fan. I refer to their accessories line in which most portray nothing more than unflattering looks and designs. I spotted these two newbie’s to the See by Chloe collection, and I’m quite impressed at how much I don’t dislike these bags, they’re actually decent…

The puddly “Ring Around Shoulder Bag” looks as functional as it appears fun. The classic hobo design in neutral black with a pebbly flat shoulder strap pretty much states that this bag won’t disappoint. Funky resin ring at the handles and a leather star zipper pull make fun characteristics to what would have been a simple black shoulder bag.replacement laptop battery

If you prefer your leather bags with a pop of hue and with a price tag under $600, the “Grasshopper” cross bag might be the See by Chloe bag for you. The color is great, it’s not exactly lilac and it’s not too purple, and I’d say it would make a great bag for the upcoming spring season. Two thumbs up for the gold toned hardware as it compliments the color nicely and of course the ability to carry this with the top handle or long strap for a messenger style is always nice.

While there are products that can help protect it from getting dirty, it would be my primary concern. But, at that price, you could easily wear it a season and buy something new next year!

Spiral Notebook Clutch: Alexander Wang, Moschino, Barneys

Everybody is doing their own avant garde interpretation of the classic spiral notebook clutch. First it was Alexander Wang with the leather bound Amber, then Moschino with the My Secret Diary inscribed notebook, then most recently Barneys New York came out with their own interpretation.

All the bags have that one feature in common, the spiral detail. But what’s so different about each design? There are a few difference which makes each bag their own…

My favorite of the bunch is the Alexander Wang Amber. It actually just came out in the gray and cream leather python-print (above). To me, between all the other versions this one most closely resembles a spiral notebook, and it’s pure fabulous. Available at nap for $625

Next up is the Moschino inscribed My Secret Diary. Not my favorite of the bunch, it just looks too plasticy for my taste. Also I’m not a big fan of the trompe l’oeil book design.

Unlike the other two versions, the Barneys Spiral Bound features double kisslock closures and opens like a coin purse. Also it’s much teenier than the other two. Measures 3.5″ x 5″ x 1.5″. Find it on the sale rack for $299 (reg $795)

Did anyone get their hands on a straw tote for the warm climate season? As soon as summer is about to roll in, designers from all sections of the globe start pouring out their interpretations of the perfect straw totes. At that very point in time I contemplate finally adding a straw addition to my collection, and of course, I never get to it. To my surprise, name brand Cole Haan has a really pretty straw tote out in their collection that reminds me of summer with a twist of fall to it. It’s the Halsey Rosette-Detailed Straw Tote, a piece that doesn’t necessarily scream summer-only. Living in Texas where the sun is scorching most of the year, this tote would be perfect to wear year round. The details that makes this piece stand out from other straw totes has got to be the artistic black floral decors and patent leather trim. It’s very feminine, eye-catching and definitely not your granny’s floral purse. If the tubular flowers aren’t necessarily your favorite, you can always detach them from the tote for a more simple and casual look.lui viton

It’s that time of year when I diligently prepare “appropriate” wish lists for in-laws, family and my husband. I take into consideration whether or not it has potential for fulfillment due to perceived frivolity and expense. My in-laws are conservative in lifestyle and while they have three homes, don’t spend on high fashion purchases. My parents have been hit by the recession, so not asking for anything there and my husband thinks I already have too many purses! I tend to buy my own bags most of the time. So, what’s a fashion-minded girl to do? Since I don’t have the chance to ask for my deepest heart’s desire, I thought it would still be fun to prepare my dream wish list.

Growing up, my mother and I were avid vintage collectors. We collected bags, jewelry and clothing from the 50’s. I learned to appreciate the value of high-quality pieces as enduring and timeless. I never ran across a vintage Chanel. Every time I get close to the new version of this dream, the price jumps up putting it more our of my reach. While I continue to lust after the new styles, I dream of finding a gently used vintage one at a fabulous price. The Holy Grail of a sort. Of course even vintage comes with a price. Every collection deserves an amazing exotic bag. Several years ago, I fell in love with Nancy Gonzalez handbags. It was the first time I’d seen Crocodile bags that were soft and supple rather than hard. I should have taken the plunge then when prices were half of what they are now. Katherine Kwei Large Donna Hobo in Chocolate and Grey/Gold OR Sling Bag

Alas, neither of these bags are available until Spring (but we got a sneak peek!). I have been a fan of Katherine’s bags since the beginning. The Donna style is my favorite and she has even upped the quality of the design of the bag with this beautiful version. The grey/gold is stunning and rich looking. However, I could really use the Donna Sling Bag. Unfortunately, I don’t have a cross body in my collection and there are many times I could really use it. The Donna Sling in black is beautiful and fills that needs. So, it is a must have on my list too! If you can see a trend here, I love Hobo bags. On a recent trip to New York, I fell in love with the Roady in Eggplant. Typically, I don’t buy alot of color handbags. Probably because my basic bag wish list have not been filled. But this eggplant version has been on my mind for a few months now. I absolutely adore the rich dark purple color. The bag is incredibly comfortable to wear. Very roomy at 14″ x 14″ x 2″. You can even replace the handles with different colored ones if you like. Bottega Veneta Maxi and Ball Hobos

Like many bagistas, I sell my bags to make room for new ones. There is one bag that I have sold that caused me deep regret. A year ago, I let go of my BV Ball Hobo and I truly wish I had not. Those familiar with BV know it has the softest leathers and the craftsmanship is truly special. The intrecattio weave is a hallmark of BV designs and I am a sucker for a great woven bag. The Large Ball is beautiful in black for $1980 with a size of 12″ x 18″ x 2 1/2″. The Maxi Hobo is extra special in chocolate and enormous at 22″ x 15″ x 2 for $2450. I would certainly be thrilled to find either under my tree!

Put on your flash back caps. Do you remember the Prada Tessuto Fiocco Muff Bow Clutch that came out a few years ago, back in 2007? (wow, I’ve been blogging for a really long time!) That bag’s flat bow design instantly came to mind when I first discovered Felix Rey’s latest Doris Wristlet.

Both bags are topped off a similar flat bow design. With a name like the Beaded Daisy Shoulder Bag, it’s not as appealing as it sounds. I imagined some nice, complicated beading designs throughout a rich leather silhouette, but just take a look and you’ll see that it’s something totally different.

I’m a constant traveler to south of the border Mexico and this looks like something you could finding hanging off a rack at a tourist shop.

It’s just so busy it’s like carrying a ‘fiesta’ around with you, everywhere you go.

Multicolored marble beads and thick Macramé textile knots are not my ideal look of upscale fashion, thank goodness the bundle of cord straps are detachable as the solid leather shoulder strap it arrives with looks much more appealing.

Although the Beaded Daisy won’t be making my wish list anytime soon, especially with the steep asking price of $1,995, I must say that I applaud Marc Jacobs on taking risks and creating very unique pieces. Although they’re not going to hit all the time, we just can’t help but wait to see what Mr. Marc will present to the fashion world next!

Ahh… the clutch! Every girl should own at least one great clutch for that formal occasion or night out in town. The fun idea of a clutch is that it’s an acceptable way to carry trendy or very eye catching designs that you normally wouldn’t encounter on an everyday handbag. Take for example the ‘Grape’ Kiss lock clutch by Sondra Roberts, cool concept and very unique indeed, but I can’t imagine running into someone carrying this design, say on a large tote bag.

As you fill this clutch up with your necessities, its body, which consists of round silk beads, increases in size creating an even more vivid appearance. The first thing that comes to mind is that 3-D pin head toy that most people can’t resist sculpting their hands and faces on, the more pressure you apply, the larger the image size gets. What do you ladies think about its concept? I say cool, but I’m not so sure that it’s best seen on a clutch. This clutch arrives in your choice from three colors of black, pink, or champagne, a crystallized kiss lock closure and a sharp squared shaped top. If you can wear this clutch a significant amount of times, then the $148 price tag sure is fairly reasonable.

A super hot item since its release last Fall, the bag looked simply stunning dangling from Rachel’s shoulder. Unfortunately, this must-have style was completely sold out at the time of my post. What a shame! But guess what… the 3.1 Phillip Lim Edie Studded Bow Bag is back in stock over at Net-A-Porter! How exciting is that?

This is such a cool style and it is one that has been calling to me for quite some time now. I love the abstract bow detailing on the front flap and the pointy, cone-shaped studs. Plus I just can’t get over the double stranded strap with its padded shoulder piece. It is such a unique feature and it really makes this piece stand out from the crowd. However, what I like most about this bag is the color! This latest version is gray with gunmetal hardware (Rachel’s bag was black with gold tone hardware). This color combination makes this style even more rocker-chic and more compatible with most people’s wardrobes nowadays. After all, gold tone hardware doesn’t seem all that popular anymore.

There’s this rumor going around that military-inspired pieces will be hot for Fall this year. So be prepared to see lots of navy blues, olive greens, and dove grays floating around! But is that such a bad thing? I mean, I really like neutrals that are a step away from the ordinary. Black is okay, but it gets kinda old after awhile. This bag has a square shape with softened edges and a drawstring closure on top. It can be worn either as a satchel or a backpack. I’m not too sure about the backpack part, but I love the way this bag looks as a satchel! I like the vertical zippered pockets on the front, complete with their own grommet detailing. Plus I like how the cotton webbing straps have little red stripes in them, adding just a touch of contrast to this bag. The Marc by Marc Jacobs New Army Handhack is such a great style for casual wear. Pair it with a woven button-down, skinny jeans, and leather boots for the perfect look!

We have pretty much hit the season where fur textiles populate the handbag racks and the contemporary brand of Foley + Corinna isn’t lingering behind. The fur trend is somewhat new to the American brand, but F+C’s Bunny Luck Pouch is just making its debut. I think whether you’re a fan of fur or not, you’ll sway on the side that agrees that this is one unattractive fur bag. Sure it’s trendy and can be easily contributed to your winter wardrobe, but it’s not the most attractive piece out there. This is an obvious example of how attaching fur on a handbag doesn’t automatically make an accessory luxurious.

Adding genuine leather to pretty much anything hikes up its msrp, but this funky bucket bag is reasonably priced for the fur fanatic who’s on a budget.
