warhammer Is WAR dying?

Don't get me wrong, I like WAR, but I also liked AoC, Vanguard and SWG, and I am seeing an all too familiar pattern taking shape in WAR that i saw in those other 3 games.

The critical problem i am seeing is lack in population, I am on an %26quot;extremely high population%26quot; (according to the warning message) server, but whole area's are almost empty, (/who's are turning up 2-3 players) SC's are getting further and further apart, you'd be lucky to get 3 SC's an evening, where in the early days you'd get 15 easily.

Public quests groups are non-existent, i haven't found a public quest group in weeks, these days i just solo grind the first stages of PQ's to get the area rewards.

I was a member of a small guild of 40 players, we now have 3 people left, 2 of whom went to another guild and rarely log on anymore, so now it's just me. The common complaint they said when leaving were %26quot;too repetitive%26quot;, %26quot;not enough rvr action%26quot;, %26quot;too boring%26quot;, %26quot;all about zergs%26quot;.

Personally i think a lot of them rushed to 40 and found not much to do so left, i don't know, it just concerns me that every night i log on the server seems quieter......

I really hope mythic can address this, no more transfers, they need to merge the servers together and address why people are leaving. I want WAR to be like it was the first week, with loads of RVR action, PQ's everywhere, it was great!

Yes there will always be the %26quot;fanboi's%26quot; who will say the game isn't dying, site outdated sales figures of how many copies of the game were sold as if that counts for anything, or talk about some elusive future patch that will magically solve all the games problems.

AoC is probably the best example of this i can think of, they still boast %26quot;400,000 customers%26quot;, does anyone really believe that other than the AoC fanboi's, you just have to log on to one of their servers to know that game is dead.

These fanbois were in Vanguard, there were in SWG and there were in AoC too, I am not sure if they were deluded or just lying through their teeth, but they were proven wrong, time and time again, because the one thing that you can't fake is a server population.

I think being blindly optimistic is detrimental to the future of WAR, we need to convince Mythic to listen to us before it's too late

If you feel this way now, just wait until the 13th.

Same on my server.

The #1 reason people are leaving is class imbalance. Ask around, read threads. This game could have been brilliant - instead it's %26quot;good%26quot; at best. Mythic put mountains of effort into some classes and so little into others.

Their biggest mistake is making players wait month(s) to address the issues. By the time classes are supposedly *balanced*, server population will have fallen another 30-40%. Players dictate whether this game will survive, not Mythic.

lol is war dying... this isnt wow its not going to have as many people and i dont think it ever will

It means that there are 800,000 active accounts atm, is it clearer now?

Also, why the hell would War be dying? Yes, population is a problem but if you haven't noticed Mythic is working on that problem. I've already seen an improvement and am expecting that within a month we will see a big increase in activity.

So no, War is not dying.

Oh come on now, read the WoW forums. Their classes are still %26quot;imbalanced%26quot; as well. I don't know what other perfect MMO you guys keep trying to compare WAR to...I think it's done quit well at release. I'm having more fun with WAR than I ever did WoW post Burning crusade, and WAR hasn't even had a major update yet!

Come now Mr. Harbinger of Doom, I know you're guys trick. You think if you make things out worse then they are, the devs will get scared and work faster... The fact is they addressed these issues within weeks. They have had great communication from the begining. Maybe instead of trying to buff or fix a certain aspect of a specific class every week, they want to hold off on this till 1.1 to make a nice and polished, fixing a bunch of class issues all at once. They way they don't make things worse for other classes in the mean time. I'm actually impressed they are working as fast as they have been. Of course that's just my biased opinion from a former AoC player

I think bugged abilities is more of an issue right now than balance. Hopefully 1.1 will fix the obvious issue and give the %26quot;love%26quot; that they promised.

Sadly, I think the game is dying and I hardly feel compelled to login anymore. Every scenario is built around zerg behavior and the tier 4 zones are empty. It's truly sad as you can tell they put a ton of time and effort. As much as they claimed that WAR IS EVERYWHERE, I've found that WAR is nowhere now. I was one of the biggest fan bois and coudlnt wait for the game, and for the first 2 weeks, the game was fantastic. Class balance issues and the lack of a fun, engaging end game ruined the experience for many. Half my guild on volkmar have alreadyu quit and I hardly see more than a couple people in the tier 3 averlorn zone anymore. YES the game is dying and the only thing that can save it is some miracle patch withj a major overhaul to both the combat system (which is unresposive STILL and not fun) and a boost to RVR somehow.

Sadly, I think they missed the mark on their game design. More of an open ended world where you cold actually build empires adn control zones might have helped. Or they could have copied what the had in DAOC and that would of been fine, but this doesn't work for me.

Why are you worried, this game could have 10k players and you would still have more than enough to have a fully populated server. WoW may have 11 million but you're not going to see more than 10-20k tops. If you want the most populated game in the world in that regard, play eve online, they have reached crazy numbers on the same server compared to WoW and warhammer.

I agree with you that players dictate whether a game will survive but the problem most if not 95% of ppl have now a days is that everyones impatient. They base their opinion of the game from the immediate launch and they have every right to but like Ive said in MANY posts you cant expect these MMO's to launch flawlessly with perfect balance to every class. Thats what class rebalances are for, patches, content updates, Itemization updates. Things will change as a whole over time and thats what ppl need to realize. Not jump to conclusion based off the first month of a launch.

Speaking of the launch, I personally feel it was the smoothest launch in history for an MMO and not everyone see's that because their so up-tight over such tiny things such as lame cosmetic problems, or crying over class imbalances in the first month of the game. Christ ppl, let them get to the class balance portion of the updates. They havnt even gotten there yet but they HAVE said that they are working on it. What we as the player community NEED to do is to give them time.

The game been out a little over a month and there's already this crap flaring up. We already know the games getting a massive patch for 1.1 plus all these other patches 1.0.4 - 1.1.

What's the rush for the game to be %26quot;perfect%26quot; anyway? It's an MMO, its going to constantly evolve.

It's just WoW players who are having a cry and leaving because they can't dominate every class 1v1. They don't realize that this game has been balanced for mass RvR not duels. So they can go back to mcdonalds and order another reputation meal.
